Firstly, welcome to my new series where I’ll be sharing some of my favourite curated room designs with you, breaking down my design decisions, and giving you the ability to easily shop the look!
My aim for this space was for it to embody a laid-back, transitional aesthetic with a touch of eclectic. I tend to start my designs with a staple piece that I love and then build around it, swapping pieces in and out of the mood board until I’m happy. In this case it was the Jaipur Coffee Table, with its intricately hand-carved detailing on top and soft antiquing, I thought it was a beautiful piece of Indian craftsmanship that would serve as the perfect centrepiece.
The selection of the armchairs, sideboard and side tables then followed suit, with the wood stains chosen to compliment the coffee table. The large, squishy 3-seater sofa was chosen in an understated natural cotton/linen material so that the colourful throw pillows in a deep navy really popped. Unusually, the vintage-style rug was one of the last elements I chose as I had a few options in mind – it eventually came down to a natural jute rug or this more colourful one, with the latter winning as I felt it gave the room a more eclectic, unique edge. Finally, the aged brass lighting fixtures and vintage vases unite the transitional scheme, creating a bridge between the modern furniture pieces and antique finds.
